Expected to be operational from early 2010, the new facility will also serve as the regional headquarters for Allison Transmission India Pvt., accommodating its executive, marketing, and sales offices, along with warehousing and customisation.
The company has identified tremendous growth opportunities for its products in the Indian market, which is one of the world’s largest economies and a global supplier of commercial vehicles. This investment has come at a time when global demand for the company’s fully automatic transmissions continues to increase.
“We see an industry that is developing, expanding and improving products internationally. Indian OEM’s are important global players whose products are avidly sought after. It is important for Allison to be aligned with these manufacturers as they expand their business operations.” said Michael Headly, vice-president International Marketing, Sales & Service.
