The DT50, which uses new laser sensing technology, is expected to find a wide range of uses such as container presence detection and crane anti-collision control, to measurement applications, including spreader positioning and container classification.
The company expects the sensor to ‘set a new benchmark for ports and harbours in terms of performance reliability, accuracy and ease of installation’. The DT50’s temperature-stable light spot achieves a positional accuracy of 10mm over the whole 10 m distance range – up to seven times better than comparable products.
In addition, the black/white shift difference is negligible, providing confidence in measurements no matter what the surface colour. It is equally capable with reflective surfaces, a performance feature usually associated with higher-priced laser systems.
