This final extension is a continuation of the Multi Terminal northeast of the Oil Harbour. The plan includes an extension of the harbour area near Kystvaernsvej and the western breakwater at the Oil Harbour, and also dredging to 14 m water depth along the new quay.
The new harbour area, to be known as the Omni Terminal, will have a planned area of approximately 80,000 sq m. It will be used for open-air storage of cargoes such as bulk goods, aggregates and wind turbine components awaiting shipment. In order to meet customers’ requirements for flexibility, there will be no buildings or structures on the terminal area.
The Port of Aarhus will invite tenders in late spring 2009, and the terminal is expected to be inaugurated in 2010.
