Grand Alliance opts for Cape route to cut costs

The decision, which takes place with immediate effect, is in response to high toll fees on the Suez Canal, which are difficult for carriers to afford in the current economic environment. The port rotation of EU3 remains the same: Southampton, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Port Kelang, Singapore, Shekou, Hong Kong, Ningbo and Shanghai. However, an extra seven days have been added to the schedule due to the diversion. Ten ships of 8,000+ teu operate on the service.

Currently there are no changes planned for the westbound trade. However, the Grand Alliance said it would consider re-routing more services if the overall economic situation did not improve.
