Konecranes to reduce workforce in face of downturn

The statutory negotiations affect all personnel of Konecranes Standard Lifting and Konecranes Service in Finland. In addition to possible temporary lay-offs, Konecranes Standard Lifting is negotiating the possible permanent lay-off of at most 40 employees and Konecranes Service that of at most ten.

Konecranes Standard Lifting, which supplies lifting equipment for industrial purposes, employs about 460 people in Finland and Konecranes Service, offering service solutions for cranes, port equipment and machine tools, about 590.

The aim of the measures is to adjust the companies’ cost structure and capacity to the current market situation and to secure future competitiveness. Konecranes has already adjusted its capacity by reducing the use of hired personnel and temporary employment and by shifting sub-contracting back to in-house production.
