Sales activities will be the responsibility of regional sales manager, Johan Gouverneur, whilst five locally based service engineers will take care of all maritime Liebherr equipment situated in Belgium and under the Moerdijk. In addition, the company is optimising its spare parts logistics to reduce delivery times and increase stocks on-site.
Delivering its first MHC to Westerlund on the left bank of the River Scheldt in 1990, Liebherr presently has 10 customers in Belgium operating 12 MHCs, a fixed cargo crane and three reachstackers. In addition 14 customers in the Netherlands currently operate 18 MHCs giving an overall total of 34 pieces of equipment in the Benelux area.
“We have found strong demand in Belgium for our local support and look forward to enhancing our presence, providing cost effective services. European Market development can be effectively achieved through local presence and by setting up this subsidiary in the region places us in a position to offer our Belgian clients more valuable and customer oriented solutions,” said Gouverneur.
