Liebherr Sunderland Works was established in Sunderland twenty years ago as a manufacturing plant for all types of maritime cranes and cargo handling equipment including ship and port cranes, offshore cranes and mobile harbour cranes. More than 85% of the equipment produced at the company goes to foreign markets with China, Singapore and South Korea accounting for more than half of the total production volume.
Together with parent company Liebherr-Werk Nenzing in Austria, Liebherr Container Cranes, Ireland and Liebherr-MCCtec Rostock, Germany, Liebherr Sunderland Works comprises a strategic production alliance allowing Liebherr to respond rapidly to the most varied market demands and use its production capacities flexibly. These production facilities go along with a worldwide network of 26 fully owned sales offices applying a direct sales strategy.
