The company will be responsible for most of the port’s activities, as well as maintenance and repair of the existing equipment and facilities. After the initial contract expires, the agreement will be re-negotiated each year for two years.
Back in April 2007 and after managing and operating the terminal for six years, PSA International, through its subsidiary company PSA Muara Container Terminal, decided to hand the operations at MCT back to the Brunei Government.
During its tenure, PSA Muara trained the local port managers and staff of the Brunei Ports Department to operate MCT. The company also provided the Department with plans reviewing the longer term capacity needs of Muara Port, including the possibility of major expansion of port facilities.
