The port has introduced a new pricing policy to reduce the tariff for electrical power supply for export reefer containers by 50%, as well as granting import containers 10 days free storage from the date/time of discharge, without additional charges for handling equipment. At the same time, the free storage period for Egyptian export containers has been increased from seven to 10 days.
According to the port, the objective of such measures is to ease the pressure on Egyptian exports and increase the volume of import containers by working with customers to encourage them to use the port. At the same time such action aims to support and improve the national income.
Two new services will call at the port for the first time this month (June). The ‘NICE’ (New India Sub Continent Europe Service) operated jointly by the Shipping Corporation of India and Mediterranean Shipping Company, which will operate four and three 4,000-5,000 teu vessels respectively. The second service is the United Arab Shipping Company’s ‘AMC 1’ (Asia Mediterranean Container Service”), operating seven 4,200 teu vessels.
