The G HMK 7608 B crane, a variant of Model 7 in the current Generation 5 series, will be used for handling containers, bulk materials, general cargo and project cargoes such as components for wind turbines. Classified as A8, this 4-rope machine will have a 50-tonne grab curve, a top lifting capacity of 140 tonnes and a maximum radius of 51 metres.
Expected to operational by this November, the crane provides high lifting capacity and versatility, making it suitable for moving containers on post-Panamax ships or handling bulk materials alongside vessels up to cape size. Dependent on terminal and operating conditions handling rates of up to 1,500 t/ph will be achievable.
“We opted for a Gottwald 4-rope MHC because we needed not just a high-performance machine for bulk handling but also a universal and economical crane to strengthen our fleet,” said Aalborg’s port engineer, Tom Hansen.
