The agreement paves the way for the completion of the planned five-year, US$245m three-phase expansion project to increase the terminal, from 172 acres to approximately 226 acres including a 4,600 feet quay, providing capacity to handle 2.4m teus by 2025. Terminal operations will continue throughout construction.
Under the terms of the lease, TraPac will implement various additional mitigation measures during the terminal expansion to reduce the environmental impact of its operations at Berths 136-147, which will include reducing air and greenhouse gas emissions and energy use.
