The new company will operate the Tan Cang Cai Mep International Terminal, which is being developed in the Cai Mep River watershed in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, south Vietnam about 50km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City.
Scheduled to open in February 2011, the 40 hectare terminal will comprise two berths totaling 590 m with an alongside depth of 14 m and will be able to accommodate 8,000 teu capacity vessels.
TCIT will be jointly owned by Mitsui OSK Lines, Saigon Newport Co (Vietnam), Hanjin Shipping (Republic of Korea) and Wan Hai Lines (Taiwan).
