The tractors are designed specifically to perform demanding handling duties in confined spaces onboard roll-on, roll-off vessels. All the machines have diesel engines with catalytic exhaust purification, significantly reducing emission levels.
In addition, the machines are equipped with electronically controlled diesel engines that meet the requirements of EU TIER2 and US CARB2.
STAM has also ordered the refurbishing of 13 straddle carriers, which is expected to extend the operational life of the machines by at least five years. Under the refurbishment programme to be carried out later this year, each of the 13 straddles, which are between four and ten years old, will be assessed individually to identify and prioritise major repairs, with the work carried out according to need.
