The reductions are due to the lower level of orders received during the first half
of this year. The aim of the cuts is to further adjust the companies’ cost structures and resources to correspond with the current weak market situation and to secure future competitiveness.
In its second-quarter 2009 interim report, Konecranes reported a reduction of 850 staff from year-end 2008 and estimated that the number of employees would decrease by a further 750 during the latter part of this year. The loss of the headquarters jobs are part of this reduction.
