Damietta orders Konecranes RTGs and reachstackers
The 16-wheel RTG cranes are fully electrical and hydraulic-free. They are equipped with active load control with a horizontal fine positioning system and Konecranes’ crane management system ensuring safe and uninterrupted use of the cranes. The cranes have a lifting capacity of 40 tons and can stack one over five containers high and seven plus a truck lane wide.
The empty container reachstacker features many innovative solutions, including the “box type” chassis, load-sensing hydraulics (power-on-demand), electronic overload, safety and monitoring system. It has a lifting capacity of 10 tonnes and can stack six containers high and three deep.
The state-owned Damietta Container and Cargo Handling Company (DCHC) is located in Damietta port and in 2008 DCHC handled 1.2236m teu to rank 86th in CM’s World Top Container Ports: the estimate for 2009 is 1.4m teu.
