Crisis rebate on Rotterdam harbour dues for 2010

According to the company, sea and inland harbour dues will actually fall by 5% in 2010 following the first time in at least 20 years that the port authority has lowered port tariffs. The agreements are valid for all sectors represented by the port employer’s organisation Deltalinqs in the “market consultation process”.

Hans Smits, CEO of the Port Authority, said, “I think we have been able to find a good balance between the present difficult position of the customers and the long-term investment needs of the port authority.”

Wim van Sluis, chairman of Deltalinqs, added that he was glad the port authority had taken such a responsible step and hoped it would stimulate the market.
