The greenfield project involves the construction of a 21.5 hectare (53acre) facility, featuring 650 m (2,132.5 feet) of berth, a water depth of 16 m (52.5 feet), six super post Panamax gantry cranes, and 18 RTGs plus auxiliary equipment and advanced IT capability.
The terminal will add about 850,000 teu to the annual container handling capacity of the port where throughput reached a record 1,203,315 teu to rank Callao 87th in the World Top Container Ports in 2008.
The agreement takes effect upon completion of the terminal’s construction, now scheduled for April-May 2010.
