“Container trade figures for November 2009 show a combination of stronger exports and high demand for imported goods, which have helped us reach this significant milestone,” said Sydney Ports’ CEO, Grant Gilfillan.
November’s strong container performance has surpassed the previous record in October 2009, by 2.7% when trade at Port Botany’s two container terminals reached an all time high of 176,900 teus.
China contributed 30% of the total container trade in November, whilst increased export performance was driven by higher container transfers to other Australian ports (13.9%), Vietnam (117.3%), India (48.1%) andï€ Taiwan (16.2%).
