American President Lines (APL) in Singapore, deployed the 260 metre vessel on its maiden voyage from the Hanjin Subic shipyard to the nearby Subic Bay International Terminal at NCT-1 for special calls in the country. The vessel’s next stop was the MICT before sailing for Hong Kong.
“We have been expecting the upsizing of vessels coming to the Philippines and these calls show our capability to service new generation container vessels,” said Christian Gonzalez, ICTSI vice-president and MICT general manager.
Improvements are currently underway to increase MICT’s capacity and facilities with the ongoing Berth 6 project. This will add a further 14 hectares, 375 m of berth and three additional quay cranes. Eight RTGs were recently delivered for the project.
