The expansion of C2 which commenced operations in October 2008 and is still under development, extended the container yard to a depth of 350 m, providing an additional 8.1 hectares of space and increasing container storage by 6,464 teu.
In addition to the recently completed expansion, the Port has reported that during fiscal year 2010, the intention is to further increase C2 terminal’s yard depth to 500 m.
ICCT is part of the Island City development project located on a 401.3 ha artificial island in the eastern area of Hakata Bay. It is the newest container terminal in Hakata and it has two berths: C1, which has a quay length of 330 m with 14 m water depth alongside and able to accommodate 60,000 dwt container vessels and the 350 m long C2 with15 m water depth alongside.
