In its new configuration the service will offer regular service with connections through the Kingston Container Port in Jamaica to key markets in the Caribbean, Central America, East, and South America via the CMA CGM global service network. The revised service cuts import transit times by three to six days.
Also at Halifax, Maersk has announced that it will commence a new weekly direct service connecting the Port with North Europe and transhipment connections to the Far East Asia.
The new service will open new markets opportunities for Atlantic Canadian exporters in particular with the seafood and agricultural industries. The first vessel on the new rotation is expected to arrive at the Port of Halifax on May 18.
