The terminal is operated by DPW Maputo and is an entry port for goods destined for Mozambique and its extensive hinterland, as well as for exporters in the region.
“Africa is a key focus of our business strategy for long term growth as we look to emerging markets to underpin the recovery of global trade. Mozambique has an exciting future and we are pleased to be part of it,” said DPW Chairman, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem.
The company has said that it is committed to investing in developing its operational capacity in Maputo over time in line with market demand. Since it expanded its interest in the port in early 2008 there has been “significant efficiency gains”, with the company stating that it looks forward to “further improving supply chain efficiency and supporting the expansion of Mozambique’s economy”.
