Huck joins from Hutchison Ports Felixstowe, where he was senior manager for container terminal operations and a key figure in delivering significant improvements to productivity and customer service.
Commenting on his appointment, Huck said, “It is evident from the wide portfolio of customers and the increasing demand for port-centric solutions within the UK, that having the capability to deliver solutions close to major consumer conurbations and distribution centres represents a largely untapped opportunity for ports”.
Industry trends within the UK shows a shift to more centrally-located terminals, largely driven from the retail and processing sectors. Huck says it was the combination of Liverpool’s existing facilities, its planned deep water container river terminal and the development of port-centric storage and distribution hubs along the 44-mile stretch of the Manchester Ship Canal, which helped make his decision to join the Peel Ports.
