Both parties entered an agreement in December 2009, with completion conditional upon a pre-emptive rights issue for DFDS’ existing shareholders and a directed offering to A. P. Moller – Mærsk at market price, without pre-emptive rights for DFDS’ existing shareholders. On Monday (12 July) all conditions for the completion of the transaction were fulfilled.
As a result of the take-over, DFDS is renaming its two divisions to ‘DFDS Seaways’, incorporating all passenger routes and freight ships with associated terminals, and ‘DFDS Logistics’, covering its road, rail and container activities.
In future all previous DFDS’ individual shipping line names will disappear, with ‘DFDS Seaways’ name appearing on the bows of all the Group’s ships.
