By signing this agreement, the Board and CGT have formalised their willingness to continue discussions at a local level, in compliance with the national framework agreement, approved by the French Union of Ports and Docks in October 2008.
The two parties have committed to guaranteeing future port activity until completion of negotiations on the local agreement. This ‘social peace’ involves the end of work stoppages that have recently disrupted business at the port.
A joint statement said that the method agreement embodies the ‘shared commitment of the Board and port workers’ to make the Le Havre the main port of Western Europe.
