The changes have been made possible by the deepening work carried out in the River Scheldt, with all the “thresholds” above the Hansweert reach having been dredged away.
The maximum draught is now basically 14 metres but for container carriers with a LOA of below 340 m, greater draughts are permitted, subject to three conditions:
• there must be a tide window of at least 60 minutes available
