“The port of Guayaquil is Ecuador’s main international trading gateway and the transition from public to private sector management and operation heralded a major new era of investment for the port,” said Gustavo Cercós, CGSA’s engineering director. The first two new Gottwald mobile harbour cranes were acquired immediately after the takeover of the port in 2007. Since that time, “Our experience with Gottwald has been exceptionally good”, continued Cercós “and that’s why we decided to rely on Gottwald again to further expand our capacities.”

“The new order brings to eight the total number of Gottwald cranes sold to Ecuador since 1987 where our business has been developing very satisfactorily in recent years,” said Rainer Buessing, regional product manager at Gottwald.

According to Buessing, the model 6 of Generation 5 is Gottwald’s current bestseller and The G HMK 6407 variant, chosen by CGSA Ecuador, has a lifting capacity of up to 100 tonnes and a working radius of up to 51 m and can handle post-Panamax container vessels and Capesize bulk carriers. The model 6 is also “well suited to terminals performing a significant number of heavy-load lifts,” he said
