The 40 tonne capacity RTGs (one-over-6 high and seven plus truck lane wide) will be the first electrically powered, eco-efficient RTGs to be operated in Turkey. Equipped with cable reels and running on electricity from the local grid and not from a diesel generator, they will reduce local emissions by up to 95%.
NEMPORT emphasises eco-efficient technology in its operations at its new container terminal located close to the Izmir area. The new terminal, also called NEMPORT (Liman Isletmeleri & Özel Antrepo Nakliye Tic. A.S) will handle import and export traffic for the domestic Turkish market and local industry.
“This is an important breakthrough for Konecranes as it is our second delivery to Turkey this year and the first electrically powered RTGs in Turkey. Furthermore, it expands our electrically powered RTG fleet in Europe to 20 units,” said Kim Salvén, Konecranes’ sales manager port cranes.
