Zebra Enterprise Solutions forms Alliance Navis STAR Technology

As one of the alliance’s first partners, arl-shipping.com is working with ZES to integrate its RTG crane optimisation tools into the ZES Sparcs container management software solution for real-time graphical planning and control of container terminals.

The combined solution optimises deployment of RTG cranes and can calculate the volume of yard cranes required for next shifts based on yard impact time of planned quay crane operations in container terminals. ZES said the system is already deployed at one of the world’s largest terminals, resulting in a 20% reduction in RTG deployment, a 16% increase in RTG productivity and a 17% reduction in RTG driving distance.

ZES claimed that the Navis STAR Technology Alliance would allow the company and its partners to deliver additional benefits in the future by collaborating to integrate their products and define product roadmaps. It said that it will offer these solutions directly to its customers with the additional value of a single vendor responsible for the solution implementation and long-term support and maintenance.
