Brazil’s port volumes rebounding

According to the national water transportation agency Agência Nacional de Transportes Aquaviários (ANTAQ), 182.6m tonnes of cargo moved through Brazil’s public and private port facilities during Q2, 2010 an increase of 9.8% on Q2, 2009 taking annual tonnage to June to 344m tonnes, up 11.7% year on year. ANTAQ now expects a year end 2010 total of 760m tonnes, up from 732.9m tonnes in 2009 but short of the 2008 record of 760m tonnes. Read More »

New rail record for Felixstowe

The UK Port of Felixstowe has set a new rail record, handling a total of 10,764 containers (16,209 teu) by rail in the week ending September 26, 2010. The previous record of 10,582 units was achieved in the same week last year. Read More »

Bromma wins orders for 63 spreaders

Orders for a total of 63 ship-to-shore and all-electric spreaders have been awarded to Bromma. The largest is a new contract for 16 separating twin-lift STS45 units from Port Klang’s Westport in Malaysia, with a total of 15 units for Panama, the Port of Baltimore (USA) and Georgia Port Authority (USA) and three units for Evyap, Turkey.
