Marseilles-Fos handles its first 13,000 teu container vessel

Delivered in September 2010, the 366 m long vessel was on its first voyage to Europe as part of the South-East Asia/Far East Dragon Express service which has called at Fos since 2002.

MSC will operate one of the two new Fos 2XL box terminals which are scheduled to come on stream in 2012. One in five container ships already calling at Fos is more than 300 m long but according to the port authority, the new terminals reflect the evolution of the world fleet and the port’s capacity to handle the latest generation of giant carriers.
