With a nominal slot capacity of 7,100 teu and a length of around 300 m, the Santa Clara is the largest vessel to sail under the Hamburg Süd flag.
The first of ten new Hamburg Süd container ships of the Santa class, the Santa Clara was put into service at the Okpo yard in South Korea in September 2010, and phased straight into the New Good Hope Express service between Asia and South Africa/South America East Coast, which Hamburg Süd operates jointly with a partner.
The other nine sister ships will follow by the end of 2012.
