igus expands its energy chain test laboratory

Testing laboratory equipment now includes climate cabinets, freezer containers and low-reflection sound measuring chambers to six-axis robots and other torsion machines. There are also testing stations for dynamic simulations such as reverse bendings and outdoor testing facilities for long energy chain travel.

igus performs more than 10,000 tests annually. Alongside 7,500 tests with polymer plain bearings, rod end bearings, ball bearings and linear plain bearings, a further 3,000 energy chain tests are carried out, plus 400 performance tests.

A long-term service life test was recently completed that had been running for more than nine and a half years with 270m double strokes withstanding the test.
