With the new crane, which has a working radius of up to 56 m and a lifting capacity of up to 100 tonnes, Puerto Angamos will have significantly upgraded its container handling capabilities to cope with the anticipated increases in vessel size at the port. The crane will be the second Gottwald machine at Puerto Angamos, where a Gottwald HMK 280 E crane has been in operation since 2002.
“The new crane is an integral part of our ambitious expansion plans and will contribute to increasing our efficiency and competitiveness and thus add to the attractiveness of our port,” said Emilio Bouchon, general manager Puerto Angamos.
With Central and South America having developed into one of its high-focus markets, Gottwald has expanded its regional sales and service representation. Comercial Fesanco S.A., owned by Miguel Fernandez Young and headquartered in Valparaiso, has been Gottwald’s representative since its founding in 1998 and over the years it has continually expanded and it now has offices and service support stations in Chile, Ecuador and Peru.
