“The two ports are very close and we will have many opportunities,” Chen Yunlin, the president of the Beijing-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) told reporters during a visit to the Port of Taipei.
“We are visiting (the port) because we have such an idea (for cooperation),” Chen added.
However, he did not elaborate on the details of the proposed cooperation between the Port of Taipei and the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone in China’s Fujian Province which are separated by a mere 122 nautical miles and a three hour sailing time.
