The machines will be equipped with the company’s fully automated drive-in power collector system, including laser-off-track-protection. In addition seven kilometres of Vahle’s stationary power supply will be installed, to carry a double-sided 4-pole conductor bar and guide the RTG’s drive-in power collector system.
The new installation will allow the RTGs fully-automated connections to the public power grid via a telescopic arm, controlled by the machine’s driver while working in a container aisle. It also enables the machines to be disconnected and reconnected in seconds when moving from one aisle to another. Once connected, the E-RTGs diesel power generator can be switched off.
“This is another major step in line with our pledge to protect and improve the environment. These E-RTGs will be powered by city electricity instead of built-in diesel generator sets, which means zero carbon dioxide will be emitted during the crane’s operations,” said Horace Lo, MTL´s chief development officer and director of engineering.
