Eilat Port, Israel’s only Red Sea port, located at its northern end, has access to the Israeli market without crossing the Suez Canal. The port has a 528 metre main quay with 12 m water depth and mainly handles car imports and mineral exports.
In the early 90’s it handled around 70,000 teu but the container traffic has ‘dried up’ in recent years. One of the primary objectives of the privatisation effort is to revive this traffic.
