The diesel-electric machines will enter operations in Q3-2011.
Although the company would not disclose the names of the customers, it is understood by CM that 19 units are destined for HHLA in Hamburg, adding to the order for Kalmar straddle carriers announced earlier this week by Cargotec, with a further seven Terex Noell units understood to be for MSC in Antwerp.
To comply with the new exhaust emission standards introduced at the start of this year in Europe and the US, the powertrain in the machines will be fitted with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology, which in turn reduces fuel consumption and removes the need for ultra-low sulphur fuel. It also means less cooling power demand and longer interval between engine maintenance.
