Linde drives backwards – and into the record books

The company has put into practice the advice from the German Accident Prevention and Insurance Association for handling goods, which recommends, “Drive backwards if the load obstructs your forward view; but use a rotating seat if you have one. Otherwise the frequent twisting will put excessive strain on your spine.”

The new rotatable driver’s seat enables the operator to rotate the entire driver’s cab through 90 degrees providing an unrestricted view of the driving route, increasing operational safety and, at the same time, protecting the driver’s back.

All drivers have to do is turn their head to see in the direction of travel. If the driver looks to the other side, he can see the load. As a result the spinal column will never be excessively twisted, thereby preventing fatigue and protecting the health of the driver. An impartial examination by Tüv-Süd confirmed the high level of safety offered by the rotatable seat.
