The units were ordered to equip the newly inaugurated Tecon Santos Terminal 4 expansion, with delivery commencing in Q4-2011. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the order.
The new all-electric 7+1 wide and 1-over-6 high machines will be equipped with Kalmar ‘Smartrail’ autosteering and container positioning verification system. The machines’16-wheel design, in combination with the light weight of its cranes, puts less stress on terminal surfaces compared to conventional 8-wheel units. The terminal operator’s cranes will feature 55-tonne capacity twin-lift Bromma spreaders with load sensing capability via the twistlocks.
The new units join the terminal’s existing 29 Kalmar RTGs, empty container handlers, reachstackers and heavy-duty forklifts from Cargotec.
