Starting with three round trips per week, the service, partly operated by Swedish railway operator Green Cargo, will make it possible for carriers to load trailers, containers and swap bodies onto trains.
The service will cover the 2,000 kilometres distance within 48 hours, compared to three days minimum by road transportation. In addition, each trip will reduce CO2 emissions by 68 tonnes, resulting in a total of 80,000 trucks being taken off European roads every year.
