The strongest aftershock yesterday was reported to have reached a magnitude of 6.0 by the country’s Geological and Nuclear Sciences Institute.
The port is completing a full engineering assessment with container receivables and deliveries suspended until 07.00 local time tomorrow, Tuesday 14 June. The port will provide an update by close of business tomorrow once the port has a clearer picture of any damage sustained.
“Our first priority was for the safety of all staff and we can advise that fortunately, there were no injuries sustained at the port,” the port’s chief executive Peter Davie said in a statement.
