Three new racks were constructed to enable reefers to be stacked up to four high, with each rack having six double-sided rows. The racks are supplied with 48 plugs of 440 volts each and have back-up 1.5 MVA power generators and 1.5 MVA step down transformers.
Movement of the boxes to/from the automated reefer facility is undertaken using two 45-tonne capacity reachstackers, recently purchased to complement the three rubber tired gantries (RTGs), increasing reefer container handling activities at the terminal.
“The Philippines continues to be one of the leading exporters of bananas being the third largest in the world and the leader in Asia. DIPSSCOR’s 70% container market share at Davao is largely a result of the expanding global banana trade,” said general manager, Julien Domingo.
