The order, the largest received by the manufacturer over the last two years, took over a year to negotiate due to the attention given by Transnet to examine the technical features of the machines in comparison with other makes on the market. Although initially the order was expected to be split between manufacturers, Transnet eventually decided to place the full order with Terex Noell.
Within the framework of the agreement the manufacturer will take an active part in the CSDP (Competitive Suppliers Development Plan), introduced by the South African Authorities to support the development of the local industry and services, by investing more than 12% of the project value with South African companies.
With the option for DGPS position to be included on the machines, the fleet will be delivered by the end of the year.
