MOL has organised its own Panama-Amazon feeder service as successor to the current loop which the carrier offers jointly with Maersk Line and APL.
The new MOL stand-alone service will connect the Panamanian hub of Manzanillo to Macapa, Manaus and Vila do Conde, using four chartered ships of 1,100-1,600 teu. Two of the ships deployed, MOL UNIVERSE (1,647 teu) and DOLLART TRADER (1,608 teu), will be shifted from the current joint service, while the two additional ships are recently chartered units, the MANDO (1,174 teu) and CLOU OCEAN (1,145 teu).
MOL says that by assuming total space and operating control, it will improve service reliability and it will be able to accommodate additional peak-season space demands.
