Rapid charger cut costs FLT operators

The rapid charge option offers an opportunity for warehouse operators to move from gas fuelled trucks to electric trucks where running costs are three and a half times less, according to Hoppecke Industrial Batteries of the UK.

The biggest benefit of rapid charging is that operators no longer need to worry about the inconvenience associated with battery changing or the need to have designated battery charging areas; there is also the benefit of not needing one charger for every truck as a single rapid charger can be shared across a number of trucks.

While some rapid chargers tend to increase battery temperatures and so shorten battery life, Hoppecke has developed a unique ‘trak air’ system that uses electrolyte circulation to keep battery temperatures down and so extend battery life.
