The latest batch of prime movers, besides being fitted with low emission engines, also incorporates improvements suggested by Westports own prime mover operators. Additionally, the horsepower of the engines has been increased from 173 cc to 220 cc, providing a much stronger and powerful machine to move the containers.
The arrival of the new 55 Prime Movers is part of the original order of 90 units fromCargotec with the remainder scheduled for delivery by September this year.
Westports has embarked on an expansion plan to build capacity: it has almost completed work on the first 300 m berth for Container Terminal 6 (CT6) that is scheduled to be operational by mid-September this year. The reclamation of 11m cu ft t required for CT6 to CT9 is also well on schedule and Phase 1 will be completed by end of this year.
