The concession has been co-financed through a Comprehensive Project Bid which involves the Peruvian Government providing project finance including port operation and maintenance costs.
The Environmental Impact Assessment and Certificate of Absence of Archaeological Remains are required in order to start work and these are to be approved by the relevant authorities. These requirements have been established by the Peruvian government to reduce the possible negative impact of the project on the environment.
Yurimaguas is a city located in the Peruvian rainforest and the new port at Nueva Reforma is intended to become the gateway to Amazona linking other regions through a new 9.4 kms Tarapoto – Yurimaguas road, a branch of the IIRSA Norte highway.
