Currently under construction, APL’s Joliet Chicago Global Gateway facility is located on a 43-acre site at the CenterPoint Intermodal Centre. It will serve APL’s customers in Chicago and the surrounding areas, eventually replacing the line’s existing Chicago container facility.
“Given Chicago is one of the largest and most important intermodal hubs in the country, APL’s new Joliet facility is well positioned to connect the eastern and western corridors of the US,” said Michael Schwank, president of Tideworks, adding that experience with intermodal TOS deployments made the project a “natural fit” for his company’s team.
APL’s facility will use a suite of integrated intermodal TOS solutions, including Intermodal Pro Traffic Control and Digital Bridge, the business intelligence and key performance indicator monitoring tool. In addition, the GateVision operating system with optical character recognition will also be implemented to automate APL’s processes and accelerate gate movement.
