The four ZPMC units which cost around US$6m arrived on October 13, 2011 on board the mv LOAN and were landed on October 15.
According to the company, the four RTGs are part of a development plan to raise terminal efficiency and increase productivity to strengthen its competitive edge against other terminals in the region. The plan also includes dredging alongside the current main container quay in co-operation with the Suez Canal Authority to increase its depth to 16 m to allow PSCT to handle latest-generation container vessels
PSCT which handled 1,024,126 teu in 2010, up 34% on the previous year, comprises a 950 m long container berth with a depth alongside of 14 m, a 400 m. long feeder berth with a depth of 9.2 m. and a ro-ro berth with a depth of 8.2 m.
